Transport Services

Do you offer shared or private transport?

We currently operate on a shared transport basis only.

 

Where do you transport to?

We provide horse transport nationwide across the UK and Ireland.

Do you transport horses into Europe?

European transport is not part of our regular schedule, however it can be arranged upon request.

Licensing & Compliance

What licences does Hodgsons Equine Transport hold?

We operate under a UK and International Operator’s Licence and hold a Company APHA Type 2 Authorisation. Our vehicle is Type 2 approved, allowing us to transport horses on journeys exceeding 12 hours in full compliance with current regulations.

What qualifications do your drivers hold?

All drivers hold an APHA Type 2 Certificate of Competence for long-distance transport.

Vehicles & Maintenance

What vehicles do you use?

We operate a Mercedes Actros unit with a bespoke 12-horse specialist trailer designed specifically for compliant and safe equine transport.

How often are your vehicles maintained?

Our vehicles are maintained in line with Operator’s Licence requirements and undergo safety inspections every six weeks, alongside routine servicing and daily checks.

Horse Welfare & Biosecurity

Do you disinfect your vehicles?

Yes, our vehicles are cleaned and disinfected using DEFRA-approved disinfectant after every trip.

How often are the vehicles cleaned?

The vehicle is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected after every journey.

Are horses checked, fed, and watered during transit?

Yes. Horses are physically checked at every stop and provided with hay and water as required throughout the journey.

Do you provide stabling or holding facilities?

Yes. We have access to our own holding yard and also use approved holding yards throughout the UK, in line with transport regulations and equine welfare standards.
